HAIR LENGTH.

 There are a zillion of female hairstyles out there but what appeals to guys? Based on my guy friends' preferences, I would say 90% of them prefer girls with shoulder length hair or longer hair. That is something I couldn't fathom. I did a little research and the main reason gotta be because longer hair covers your less desirable features making you look more appealing. As a vain girl, I do love long hair too. However, I shaved my head for a charity event last year and I'm currently growing it out. My hair barely reaches my shoulder but I think it looks fine on me. I don't really understand why guys like girls with long hair. As for girls, I do understand why we love long hair, we can do so many different updos and every different updo gives a different feel and a different vibe. With long hair, girls have more choices on how they want to look. When you have short hair, there is nothing much you can do with it except to live with it. The perfect length would be mid length hair, they are easy to deal with and at the same time, you get choices. Long hair is always in a way of something, in your food, in your face, it's just......everywhere. When I was young, I would say about 9 years old, boys in my class have crushes on girls with long hair. I wouldn't agree that long hair conceal the less desirable features as we're supposed to braid it away from our faces. The only reason I can think of is, guys like feminine girls. Before you start yelling at me to prove me wrong, I shall rephrase it. MOST guys like feminine girls. When we were young, what do we know about inner beauty? We all talked about appearances and only appearances. Therefore, young boys like young pretty girls. To them, pretty would most probably means girls with long hair. This is true. I once asked my cousin who was only 4, " Is jiejie pretty?" "No, very ugly," she replied. "Why?" "Cause you got short hair, short hair not nice." I wouldn't say I was very affected by it. First of all, my hair was ridiculously short. Secondly, I understand their perception of pretty is very vague. Lastly, I was already mentally prepared. Long hair makes a girl look more feminine, sweet and gentle. Girls with short hair give an edgy and hard to deal with vibe. And because guys like sweet and nice girls, naturally long hair is more appealing to them. This is mainly just my opinion, I am no guy and my answer is not from a guy's point of view. This is merely my thoughts on the opposite sex's preference and if you're offended, I see no need to apologise. We always say inner beauty is more important but can I please say, first impression still matters and it is also very important? Appearance attracts attention, inner beauty keeps the attention. Before the attention gets to explore the inner beauty, we need appearance to attract it first which is not so easy for people who aren't that appealing to the general. Fret not if you doubt you're pretty, I honestly do not think I'm pretty either, make up does the trick. (winks) I'm not deceiving people, I'm just doing them a favour by being more pleasant looking. Always remember, "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder." Don't feel pressured to have long hair if you do want a pixie cut, pixie cuts are cool and someone will appreciate it. The only reason why this post exists is because I wonder too much and asked too many questions. While growing out hair, the common questions/responds I get are, "Do you intend to grow your hair long?" "Why did you cut short hair? You look great with long hair." "Why do you keep cutting your hair? Why not let it grow?" "You look good in both short hair and long hair, but long hair is nicer." They just make me wonder, what's wrong with short hair? I live to answer all my questions, to seek all opinions and truths. Not all girls can do a short hairstyle. Kudos to all ladies out there rocking their pixie cut! |
