7 CUPS OF TEA.
Posted Sunday, 23 November 2014 // 8:55 pm

Magandang gabi,

I have the urge to write today but don't really have a clue on what to write. I do have a few drafts saved but I don't think I'm really to write/ post them yet. This post will be a little different from the usual- filled with different opinions/ point of views. It is more of a review/ recommendation post.

I'm sure the title did hint you a little, yes, it's called 7 cups of tea but it has got nothing much to do with teas. 7 cups of tea is a site where people find someone to talk to.  I did mention a little about 7 cups of tea previously, this is just more detailed. Do not ask me how I came across this amazing site, it's quite a long story but don't worry, I'm not depressed. Instead of talking to someone, I ended up as a listener. Yup! I listen to people talk about their problems. I know we do have times when we want to talk to someone about something but we can't really tell anyone about it without fearing about their reacting or how they will judge you. At 7 cups of tea, I can promise you, you will remain anonymous while you talk about your problems, you don't have to reveal anything about yourself if you don't want to and we will make you feel welcome and loved.

The only reason why I'm sharing it is because I want to continue to make a difference in more people's life. Through so many talks, I'm so glad when they tell me how thankful they are and how much I have helped them. All listeners are trained and certified, so you can expect a certain degree of professionalism. How does it work? Good question. It might sound complicated but I promise you it's real easy.

How to talk to a listener?
#1 You can talk to the listener as a guest/ member. As a guest, you do not need an account.
#2 Go over to 7 cups of tea and click "CONNECT TO A LISTENER NOW"
#3 You will be connected to a listener once a listener is available.
#4 While waiting for a listener, you can talk to others that are waiting at the waiting chat room as well.
#5 Once you are connected to a listener, you can talk about your problems without revealing your identity.
#6 Your name is generated based on your computer ID, every time you go back to 7 cups of tea, it'll be the same name. (Pear007, Carli02 etc.)
#7 To be a member, all you have to do is sign up.
#8 You are able to choose your listener as well. Click "Browse listener" (top left) and choose the listener you want base on reviews, rating or country etc.
#9 Once you are done, just......exit.
#10 Conversations are deleted, leaving behind only the last 10 messages. This is to help keep track of what you have said.

How to be a listener?
#1 This is a little tougher but definitely manageable.
#2 Go over to 7 cups of tea and click "Become a listener" (top right)
#3 You NEED to sign up and go through a series of tests before you're certified. This is to ensure professionalism.
#4 As a listener, 7 cups of tea does require to commit but no worries, it's not a very huge pressure. 1-2 hours per week will help a lot.
#5 Once you're certified, you can start talking to people that needed someone.
#6 Follow up with them if needed. Everything will be taught. (How to respond or react etc)
#7 That's pretty much it. You can explore around the site if you're free.

For iPhone users, I'm happy to say they do have an app for easy access from your phones. As for Android users, right now we do not have an app available but fret not, we're running tests on the app already. You will have the app option very soon. As for now, you still can access it from mobile web.

You don't have to use it to help someone; you can simply help by sharing it with anyone that you think might need it. Overall, I highly recommend it to everyone. If you have issues, you can talk about it here. If you have no issues, you can help by listening. It helps to improve your listening skills kills two birds with one stone. (thumbs up!) I can't really find any downsides but if I have to force out a few, it will be complicated navigation and shortage of listeners. At 7 cups of tea, there are too many tabs that lead to the same screen and it's so confusing at the beginning. (For listeners only. I'm not so sure about guests and members. For guests, it should not be a problem.) Sad to say, sometimes we do have a shortage of listeners. General requests to talk to a listener can go up to 23 and 10 general requests are bad enough already. (23 general requests are based on personal experience. It might have gone higher but I have yet to experience it.)

To talk to me, my listener user name is Joyce22. You are very welcome to talk to other listeners as well. :)
