PASAR MALAM! *screams*

Most Singaporeans are pretty crazy about pasar malam. Basically, pasar malam means night market in Malay. It happens every now and then around the neighbourhood especially before a festival. Pasar Malam is a like mini Bugis street where they sell cheap food and cheap goods and they usually open till later than normal shop stores.

Well, let's go see what's so good about pasar malam! Recently at Jurong West, we have 2 pasar malam! Yeap, not one but TWO! One is located at Jurong west st 42 and the other one is at street 52. Starting from the one at st 42, they have a florist!

There's a variety of flowers but nothing interesting. We all know these flowers don't last. I was tempted to buy a pot of roses but the roses aren't very pretty and they're not the type I'm looking for.

Next would be food! YAY! Food, who doesn't love food? I've realised that certain stores are more popular at st 42 and most of them are more popular at st 52. Takoyi, Ramly burger, chicken wings, sausages, corns, popcorn, candyfloss and many many more.

I guess we all have tried takoya, the st 42 one is definitely more popular. On a weekend, you'll have to wait while it's cooking. It's sold at 6 for $2.50, crispy on the outside and soft on inside drizzled with mayonnaise and a brown sauce and topped with Katsuobushi which is dried bonito fish flakes. I would usually get the sotong one, it's crazily good!

So, it's my first time trying Ramly burger despite people always telling me how great it is! I'm guessing Ramly does franchising, because there's like 2 stores selling Rambly burgers at st 42 but different owners. Look at the first picture, it's a lie! HAHAHA! It looks nothing like that! It's either beef or chicken patty and I took the chicken one. The egg is wrapped around the patty with BBQ, mayonnaise, chilli and mustard sauces in it and there's definitely no cheese or vegetables in it. I love how the egg is done, it's cooked perfectly but the bun is just too thick and dry. The patty taste like Mcdonald's McChicken patty. Would I buy this $3 Ramly burger again? I love the egg but I doubt I will.

Next, we have Asian Street Cafe. They sell their yum yums by $3/$4/$5. I bought their $3 Salted Fried Chicken which was a little expensive as compared to Shihlin XXL chicken. They will re fry the chicken like others would do and toss it with chilli powder. It wasn't as spicy as Shihlin's, even though the chicken is really crispy on the outside, it's not too dry, it's really chewy inside with a little juice. I will definitely buy this again! * thumbs up*

Then there's very typical food you can find almost everywhere. I tried their fried chicken wing once, It was really crispy outside and juicy inside, but....BUT it taste of fresh salt water. I'm not too sure how to describe the taste, it's not salty but it reminds me of the sea. Try again? Nope!

*Slurps slurps* Mee sua for $3. Perfect for a rainy day. There's crab stick and chilli oil in it with a little spring onion. I really like the soup because it's consistency is thick and flavoured. It'll taste a lot better if he added more vinegar but I guess it depends on personal preference. I love the mee sua because it's sooooooo smooth, I would filter out the noodles and leave the soup! HAHAHA! There's about 4 oysters in it but I'm not really into it, so I don't care. The noodle matters the most to me!

Then there's stores that sells cheap sunglasses, caps, bags, clothes, there's practically everything. Not forgetting the games store which always seem impossible to win. It used to be very popular before iphones and ipads appeared. Technology really ruins childhood..

If you haven't notice, it's brighter and crowded here at st 52, but the takokayi store wasn't very popular here. Cheap and fashionable clothes, not all of them are cheap though. And there's always this store that sells all the little little household needs like nails clipper, screwdrivers, etc. And one of my favourite store is the one that sells all the beads and bones necklace that customise your name on colourful acrylics.

Sad life of a HTC butterfly S user, everywhere you go, they'll tell you no. No phone covers for you, no nice skins for your phone, no protector either. I needed to change my protector and he was being nice by cutting it into my phone size for me for $7. Reasonable price. I'm really jealous of his skills. His hands are way bigger but the lines he cut is straighter than mine... sighs.
Lastly, my favourite lychee drink! HAHAHA! It's $2.50 with 2 big lychees in it. I really love this cause it's not too sweet, it's really smoothing. Must try! I swear I can drink it everyday!

Pasar malam is a temporary thing that comes and go. There's a lot of stores that sells handphone accessories. In the st 52 pasar malam, there's about 5 of them! Bet their business is good. Pasar malam changes base on festivals, before Chinese New Year, there'll be more CNY decorations and small snacks like sweets. But pasar malam food is really unhealthy. A vegetable lover like me without vegetables is like a fish without water. But no harm indulging sinful goodness once in awhile!

Go visit a pasar malam if you haven't been to one! I know my pictures are always kind of small. I just don't like it occupying so much space. Click on the pictures for a bigger dimension, I promise they are HD. ;)

Chalet tomorrow and I haven't pack.

With love,
Bye

All photos meant no ill intentions and it's not for publicising purposes.Thank you fellow stores owners.

And you will have no regrets.
