PASAR MALAM.

PASAR MALAM! *screams*

Most Singaporeans are pretty crazy about pasar malam. Basically, pasar malam means night market in Malay. It happens every now and then around the neighbourhood especially before a festival. Pasar Malam is a like mini Bugis street where they sell cheap food and cheap goods and they usually open till later than normal shop stores.

Well, let's go see what's so good about pasar malam! Recently at Jurong West, we have 2 pasar malam! Yeap, not one but TWO! One is located at Jurong west st 42 and the other one is at street 52. Starting from the one at st 42, they have a florist!

There's a variety of flowers but nothing interesting. We all know these flowers don't last. I was tempted to buy a pot of roses but the roses aren't very pretty and they're not the type I'm looking for.

Next would be food! YAY! Food, who doesn't love food? I've realised that certain stores are more popular at st 42 and most of them are more popular at st 52. Takoyi, Ramly burger, chicken wings, sausages, corns, popcorn, candyfloss and many many more.

I guess we all have tried takoya, the st 42 one is definitely more popular. On a weekend, you'll have to wait while it's cooking. It's sold at 6 for $2.50, crispy on the outside and soft on inside drizzled with mayonnaise and a brown sauce and topped with Katsuobushi which is dried bonito fish flakes. I would usually get the sotong one, it's crazily good!

So, it's my first time trying Ramly burger despite people always telling me how great it is! I'm guessing Ramly does franchising, because there's like 2 stores selling Rambly burgers at st 42 but different owners. Look at the first picture, it's a lie! HAHAHA! It looks nothing like that! It's either beef or chicken patty and I took the chicken one. The egg is wrapped around the patty with BBQ, mayonnaise, chilli and mustard sauces in it and there's definitely no cheese or vegetables in it. I love how the egg is done, it's cooked perfectly but the bun is just too thick and dry. The patty taste like Mcdonald's McChicken patty. Would I buy this $3 Ramly burger again? I love the egg but I doubt I will.

Next, we have Asian Street Cafe. They sell their yum yums by $3/$4/$5. I bought their $3 Salted Fried Chicken which was a little expensive as compared to Shihlin XXL chicken. They will re fry the chicken like others would do and toss it with chilli powder. It wasn't as spicy as Shihlin's, even though the chicken is really crispy on the outside, it's not too dry, it's really chewy inside with a little juice. I will definitely buy this again! * thumbs up*

Then there's very typical food you can find almost everywhere. I tried their fried chicken wing once, It was really crispy outside and juicy inside, but....BUT it taste of fresh salt water. I'm not too sure how to describe the taste, it's not salty but it reminds me of the sea. Try again? Nope!

*Slurps slurps* Mee sua for $3. Perfect for a rainy day. There's crab stick and chilli oil in it with a little spring onion. I really like the soup because it's consistency is thick and flavoured. It'll taste a lot better if he added more vinegar but I guess it depends on personal preference. I love the mee sua because it's sooooooo smooth, I would filter out the noodles and leave the soup! HAHAHA! There's about 4 oysters in it but I'm not really into it, so I don't care. The noodle matters the most to me!

Then there's stores that sells cheap sunglasses, caps, bags, clothes, there's practically everything. Not forgetting the games store which always seem impossible to win. It used to be very popular before iphones and ipads appeared. Technology really ruins childhood..

If you haven't notice, it's brighter and crowded here at st 52, but the takokayi store wasn't very popular here. Cheap and fashionable clothes, not all of them are cheap though. And there's always this store that sells all the little little household needs like nails clipper, screwdrivers, etc. And one of my favourite store is the one that sells all the beads and bones necklace that customise your name on colourful acrylics.

Sad life of a HTC butterfly S user, everywhere you go, they'll tell you no. No phone covers for you, no nice skins for your phone, no protector either. I needed to change my protector and he was being nice by cutting it into my phone size for me for $7. Reasonable price. I'm really jealous of his skills. His hands are way bigger but the lines he cut is straighter than mine... sighs.
Lastly, my favourite lychee drink! HAHAHA! It's $2.50 with 2 big lychees in it. I really love this cause it's not too sweet, it's really smoothing. Must try! I swear I can drink it everyday!

Pasar malam is a temporary thing that comes and go. There's a lot of stores that sells handphone accessories. In the st 52 pasar malam, there's about 5 of them! Bet their business is good. Pasar malam changes base on festivals, before Chinese New Year, there'll be more CNY decorations and small snacks like sweets. But pasar malam food is really unhealthy. A vegetable lover like me without vegetables is like a fish without water. But no harm indulging sinful goodness once in awhile!

Go visit a pasar malam if you haven't been to one! I know my pictures are always kind of small. I just don't like it occupying so much space. Click on the pictures for a bigger dimension, I promise they are HD. ;)

Chalet tomorrow and I haven't pack.

With love,
Bye

All photos meant no ill intentions and it's not for publicising purposes.Thank you fellow stores owners.

SIXTEENTH MARCH.
Posted Friday, 21 March 2014 // 11:25 pm

I've been away for long enough. Sixteenth March is the start of the monsoon season. It has been raining every single day. Hopefully the grass will be green again!

River safari with parents. Sometimes I feel the need to go out with them once in awhile to show that I still care even though we don't talk everyday. Despite the rain, I would say we're rather lucky to see most animals actively roaming around its enclosure instead of the typical "dead" asleep ones we would see in the zoo.

It's my second time seeing the pandas, the first time was when river safari wasn't completed yet. When I went, JiaJia was rather lazy but this time, we're in luck!

The one on the left is JiaJia and the right is KaiKai. JiaJia is eating the carrots left by the zookeeper around the enclosure and KaiKai is just being a typical boy, climbing branches. HAHAHA! I guess my favourite is the squirrel monkey forest.
I actually went there twice! First time was when it was still drizzling and second time was when the sky was clear. I have to say the second time, I was disappointed. Once the rain stopped, the monkeys are no longer active and all of them went into hiding....

Despite the rain, I didn't regret going! There's so many animals though I wasn't very interested by the water animals.... Wait! Actually, I love the sea otters!! Sea otters have always been my favourite though they can be really stinky!

If you haven't been to river safari, I suggest you go and take the boat ride as well! It's all worth it though it depends a little on luck!

My love for animals cannot be replaced.

IN THE STREETS OF JB.
Posted Tuesday, 11 March 2014 // 12:50 pm

Bright golden sun and white fluffy clouds in the clear blue sky, I went across the borders yesterday with my parents. It was scorching hot! The heat was unbearable, or maybe I'm just not used to it.....

Malaysia and Singapore are similar but different in some ways. Malaysia is way hotter, the streets are slightly messier, main language is Malay and things are cheaper there. Most of the time I was just complaining how hot it is and how thirsty I am. Dinner was great though! We went to Breeks at City Square cause I wanted fish and chips. Breeks is kinda under Seoul Garden I think, their food was okay.... The fish and  affrogato was really good but the shellfish in the Seafood marina wasn't really fresh. The food for that kind of price is fine, maybe don't take their service water, it tastes a little off. City Square has got so much food to eat, I think I need to go there more often. HAHAHA!

Talking about food, I wish I didn't have high metabolism rate. I know others think it's awesome but really, it's a torture. At 3 in the morning when most minds run wild, the sad gets the saddest and the crazy goes the craziest, we all should be sleeping but I AM WIDE AWAKE BECAUSE I AM HUNGRY. No joke. I can eat breakfast, lunch, tea break, dinner and I am still hungry. You must be thinking I had dinner at 5 plus 6. Uh! Assume. I often eat dinner around 8pm and fruits around 10pm. I seriously wonder where did all the nutrients and fats went.

High metabolism rate means you're forever eating and that's where most of my money went, on food. I'm skinny not because of high metabolism rate, partially it is but it's mainly because I exercise. Normal people can control their diet but for me, once my food is digested, my tummy starts to rumble and if I choose to ignore it, I'll starve and probable get gastric pain. Problem of people with high metabolism rate.....I eat more than most girls do and sometimes more than what some guys eat. Guys that eat really little makes me feel like a pig...

I'm hungry already, I just had brunch..

GIRL V GIRL.
Posted Sunday, 9 March 2014 // 12:40 am

To be honest, sometimes girls can really be a pain in the ass...

Girls always compare& compete with one another. I admit I do that too. I get jealous when someone else is prettier than I am. Who doesn't? But what really annoys me is when girls decide they own the style. If two guys happen to be dressed in the same shirt, they call it bromance, brothers for ever. But if two girls are dressed in the same dress,....... World War 3. Oops!

Some girls feel that once they wear a style, that style is theirs forever. If you have a friend that's like this, you would know better to not wear the style she wore before even if it was 10 years ago. Hairstyle, shoes, dresses, make up, anything, it's a no no.

Why girls can't see it as inspired, instead of copying? If you do inspired others in terms of fashion or attitude wise, in any way, you should be proud. Because people look up to you, they take you as a role model. I admit I do not like others to have the same things as I do, maybe I like to be unique. But after time, I naturally accepted the fact that if others "copied" me it just means I inspired them or they do like how I am.

Girls, please do not say you own or created the style. 2014, many girls lived and died, you're definitely not the first. If you learn a certain hairstyle from somewhere, don't you dare say others copy you because you copied others too. This whole " Eww, she copied her!" " No originality at all!" "Copycat!" gotta stop. If you really do see having the same style as copying, you better stop breathing right now and just die. Cause you're copying others by breathing and don't walk, you're copying too.

Sometimes I feel that they say girls are more mature than guys, it's bullshit. If a guy can accept being dressed in the same shirt as some other guy in the club, why can't girls? Why do we care so much about if others did copy us or not? Girls are being so childish by comparing& competing.

My advice to those that insist that no one shares the same style as you is that you design and sew your own clothes, make your own accessories, shave your hair away and love your bare face. Think about it, if you buy your clothes from a retail store, that one piece you bought is just one out of a million. Therefore, chances of someone else appearing in the same top as you is as high as 30%. I know girls have more hairstyles to choose from as compared to guys but the number of girls alive is a few hundred times more than any possible hairstyle. Without hair, you'll have one less to worry. No one can copy your bare face, because that's something that really is yours. There are a few looks a make up can do but the basics are all the same, brows, eyes, lips and cheeks, how different can you get?

Girls, accept the fact, you're not the only girl in this world.

People didn't copy you, they're inspired by you.

UNDERSTANDING WOMEN.
Posted Friday, 7 March 2014 // 12:59 am

Hello Royalties!
Recently, people have been asking me "Why are women so complicated?" "How to tell if a girl is upset?" "What is on her mind?" "Women, girls, ladies, females, she...BlahBlahBlah?" So, I've decided to help the guys out, since I'm a girl!

I know in my first few post, I said, as long as you have feelings, you're complicated. But really! On a scale of 1 to 10, women's complication will probably be a 9 and the men's will only be a.... 4? When a girl is quiet, she can be angry/ upset/ annoyed/ moody/ hungry/ bored/ in deep thoughts or simply just tired. Whereas, a man when he's quiet, he's most probably just tired.

There's a few type of women, just like how there's a few type of men. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Here comes the complication, there are only at most 6 types of men on this Earth, but there's a million type of women. And one woman can have a least 10 types of personality in her, depend on her mood and the time of the month......

How to understand women?
1) Get some estrogen injected in your body

I'm kidding. You'll never understand women...... Because me myself don't even understand my own sex, how can another sex undertsand us? It's all the hormones in us messing with you guys. A girl can tell you she's fine with anything and then yell at you later for bringing her something she doesn't want. She can tell you she wants chocolates and the next minute, she changes her mind, she hates chocolate now... When a guy tells another guy, "Nice coat!", he means it. When a girl tells another girl, "Nice blouse!" , she's hating it and thinks it's ugly or basically just jealous. But some of us do mean it when we compliment!

Poor men! The only way to save yourself is be attentive to her needs. She may have 10 personality in her but the core one will always be there. Play safe, when she say anything, only her favourites. When she's quiet, bring her food, give her a massage, if she shrugs you off, she's mad. Easy! Know when it's the time of the month and give in.

Generally, every woman works differently. Some express themselves freely, some just want you to to read her mind/guess and some just wanna see how well you know her. I'm generally the one who speaks whatever that's on my mind except when I don't wanna hurt anyone's feeling. Don't try to understand women, the less you know, the better. You can't understand women.

Women are harder than Pure Chemistry..

As most Singaporeans know, Hair for Hope is a event that happens every year in July. Hair for Hope is a event under the Children's Cancer Foundation that helps raise funds and awareness of childhood cancer. The main event is always held at Vivo City, no doubt, this year too! And it's their 12th consecutive year this year! You can read more about it here!

To honour my words in giving back to the community, I'm organising a satellite event at Jurong Spring Community center (JSCC) this year. This is to help ease the congestion at the main event at Vivo City and to encourage more people to participate in this event in their neighbourhood.

Many middle aged people are not internet savvy, and are often not aware of how to register online and having to queue for hours for walk-in registration usually turn people away from it. Organising the satellite event in JSCC will allow more people to participate in this event at their convenience.

I'll be organising this event with JSCC, I've already communicate with Grace Ong, the executive, communications of Children's Cancer Foundation and Elvis, a member of Jurong Spring V2. The event will be held between May and June, most probably on a Sunday, date will be confirmed when registration starts. T shirt and goodies bag will be given to registered shavee.

As it is my first time organising a public event, I'm looking for 2-3 people to help me out with this event. Do note it will be held at JSCC (nearest MRT station is Lakeside) If you wish to be a part of this, feel free to email me at cosmicroses@hotmail.com

Last year, there's a total of 7,316 shavees and a donation of more than $4.3million. I hope this year more people will participate in this event by shaving their heads. Donation is encouraged, not compulsory, so please do not feel pressured to donate any money.

Any form of support is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

UPDATE!
Grace Ong just emailed me, for walk-ins shavees, a minimum of $20 donation is required. No donation is required if you registered beforehand. Both walk-ins and registered beforehand shavees will receive T shirt and a goodie bag. Do note that walk-ins T shirt and goodie bags are while stock last.

Do hope to see the golden heart in you.

DESTINATION OR JOURNEY?
Posted Monday, 3 March 2014 // 2:22 pm

Destination or journey?

Have you ever look back and thought, "Wow! 5 years went by so quickly!" And when you look forward, 5 years is a long time. Why?

The past is the journey you've been through, the future is your destination. If you just wanna rush to your destination, you'll realise that time passes too slowly, but if you take your time and enjoy the process, you'll arrive at your destination within a blink of an eye.

Your destination/goal is what keeps you going and give you direction. Without it, you'll be lost and wasting each day aimlessly. But one should never be too eager to reach it's goal for more haste, less speed. Trying to rush things will often only mess things up.

Think about something you're proud of. Straight As result. New car. 21km run. Anything you're proud of. What is that you miss? The moment you finish/achieve it or the times you kept pushing yourself to go further and be better? I wouldn't say I've done fantastic for my O levels but good enough for me. To be honest, I don't miss the moment I got my result. I miss the times I stayed up till 2am just to finish up assignments, studying at McDonalds, night study session and all the extra lessons we have after school every single day. That's what I miss. Biology every Saturday morning. Chemistry consultation every now and then when I'm failing. (Pure sciences is really not easy)

Many people focus too much on their goal and missed out the fun in the journey. That's how we all missed out all the little things in life. Nobody walks slow to look at flowers anymore. Nobody notices the stars that shine so brightly anymore. People only look where they are heading because destination is all that matters now. Well, I still stop and stare at cats, sometimes meow a little. I walk slowly home at night just so I have a little more time with the stars.

"Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it." - Greg Anderson

CURSE.
Posted Sunday, 2 March 2014 // 7:45 pm
I've been swearing a lot recently, I wonder why. Is it because of the frustration and saddness I suffered from the last break up? Is it? I don't know.

I've been rather vulgar recently. According to Google, vulgar is making explicit and offensive reference to sex or bodily functions; coarse and rude. And according to thefreedictionary.com, curse word is a  profane or obscene expression usually of surprise or anger.

My question is what makes vulgar a curse word? Because it's explicit? Or because everyone is saying it? Why can't we say something nice as a curse word? Maybe it's because using a nice word as a curse word would ruin the beauty of the nice word. How about something mundane as a curse word? Like instead of, "Fuck! I lost it again!" We could maybe say, "Broom! I lost it again!"

But then again, because everyone uses Fuck, it sounds way cooler to say Fuck and it makes you a weirdo to actually say broom as a curse word. Crazy world. I know. Cause we live in the world where people's opinion is goddamn important. There, I just cursed again.

What's a nice word to use as a curse word without ruining it's beauty? Holy, I guess? Holy just means flawless or perfect. You wonder why not just not curse? Easy to say. But that's how we express our frustration and elaborate our point.I guess without a curse word to use, it'll be just AH! OH! YESH!.... But they are not words, they are just a sound we make.

In my opinion, English gentlemen curse too, the only difference is the words they use. A English gentlemen would say, "For God's sake, take a look at you!" And everyone says, " Fuck! Look at yourself."
Would rather say " for God's sake" or go straight to the point with a curse word with one syllable.

Modern world, ain't got time for that. To be a nice person they would wish to see, refrain from swearing!

How to refrain from swearing
1) Ask your friends to remind you.

2)Keep a swear jar. Put a dollar in for every curse word you said.

3)Punish yourself by having a elastic band around your wrist. Every time you curse, pull the elastic band and let go.

4)Stay away from explicit music and people.

I'll try and see if it works.
With curses and swears xoxo

And you will have no regrets.
